Transcendence

I’d love to hear from you!

Today on my morning walk I stepped out of time and wandered for a bit through the landscape of eternity. I was pondering the notion that perhaps time was an illusion, and that was apparently all my haiku muse needed to kick things into high gear. It was a most interesting journey – sometimes thoughts that took me down interesting rabbit holes, sometimes a simple shift in perception and awareness that carried me into an expansive timelessness, sometimes a visual shift that began to blur the edges which usually define the separateness and distinctiveness of things. And through the whole experience the haikus kept flowing.

night flows into day
all of creation is here
in each new moment

letting go of time
and stepping into the NOW
of sacred presence

the veil grows thinner
separateness is not true
time and space dissolve

slipping out of time
getting lost in forever
my soul finds its home

paying attention
to how precious my life is
takes me by surprise

embracing limits
lets me expand beyond them
haiku transcendence

This life I am living is such a remarkable gift. Lately I’ve been trying to practice staying present in each moment. My morning walk experience offered me a glimpse into what might be possible. I am grateful for the gift.

Addendum:
After I posted this reflection a friend contacted me and said she thought I had missed an opportunity for an additional haiku in the last lines. Her suggestion was:

this life I’m living
is a remarkable gift
I’m staying present

That made me smile. I told her, “sometimes it takes a village to write a haiku (or at least a friend who is also in touch with Spirit).” I truly am grateful for the community of friends who surround me and sustain me on this incredible adventure we call life.
