Day 7

Some days I am overwhelmed with awe and gratitude, surrounded by amazing beauty and experiences. Today was a bit more of a slog. I was sharing the day with new friends Sally and Charlotte, who are easy and fun to be with, and our pace is very compatible. So the company was grand. The route, however, was less than spectacular. It started out well enough, through interesting and lovely country. But mostly it felt less than inspiring and more industrial. There was a good deal of up and down walking, lots of road walking. and it took us through the largest city we’ve seen so far (Logrono), which felt way too commercial and busy for my taste. Thus, it was a good day to cover a lot of kilometers (34). The walk out of Logrono took us through a lovely park, which prove a refreshing counterpoint to the hustle and bustle of the big city. And landing in Navarrete felt like a good place to be for the evening.

So, not my favorite day so far, but it still included plenty of lovely experiences, including more olive groves and vineyards (with me sampling one grape which exploded on my mouth with amazing flavor), and a relaxing and delicious meal of pinchos. All in all I continue to be overwhelmingly grateful for the gift of being on this adventure. Buen Camino.
