This morning I had an interesting memory pop up while making breakfast. That prompted a smile, followed quickly by an insight. After the water came to a boil I dropped the oatmeal into the pot, followed by the raisins. I like to cook the raisins with the oatmeal so they get plump snd moist. This is where the memory showed up. What seems like several lifetimes ago, back when Veronica was still alive, she would often make oatmeal for breakfast. As I mentioned, I like my raisins cooked with the oatmeal. Veronica and Maia did not. But that did not mean there had to be winners and losers. She added my raisins over in one corner of the pot. I got my raisins and they got their oatmeal sans raisins. It was simple and easy. Creative accommodation! How many of the conflicts in our lives and in our world could be resolved peacefully if we applied the principle of creative accommodation? Thanks Veronica for continuing to pour your compassionate and creative wisdom into the world!
