I always like Father’s Day, because it offers me an opportunity to reflect on how grateful I am to be a father. I am not a father in the biological/genetic sense of the word. I am a father because a whole bunch of young women continue to allow me to share in their lives. Each in their own ways they have enriched my life beyond the capacity of any words to express. Their love and acceptance makes me a better human being. Sometimes I have done a pretty good job of the parenting thing, and sometimes not so much. And through it all there is still love and connection. Thirty some odd years ago when I made it official by adopting daughter number one I never could have imagined that I would spend the next three decades collecting daughters. So, on this Father’s Day I say “Thank You” – to all of my daughters, to their mothers, and to the Universe. I am blessed beyond measure.
