I have started volunteering as an usher at the Fox Theater here in Spokane. It’s an old, beautifully ornate theater downtown where the symphony orchestra plays. Yesterday I worked two performances of the Nutcracker. I worked the mezzanine position, which primarily involves helping people figure out which door to use to reach their seats in the balcony or loge sections of the theater. But because the mezzanine is elevated above the ornate lobby area lots of people dressed in the holiday finest were taking photos of themselves and their family/friends  – either as a selfie or with one person taking the shot and thus not being in the shot. So I volunteered to take the picture for them. I had lots of takers. At one point I heard someone say, “Is this the line for photographs?” It was really fun and people seemed to appreciate it. It wasn’t in the “job description” for that position, but it ended up being my favorite part of the day.
