As we near the close of another year, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey the past couple of years have been. Filled with adventures, change, and personal transformation, it feels like the perfect moment to share an update with you. Here’s a “Reader’s Digest” recap in case you missed any of the highlights along the way:

A Life-Changing Pilgrimage
In the fall of 2023, I embarked on a journey of a lifetime, flying to Spain to walk 500 miles on the Camino de Santiago (the Frances route). This incredible experience not only challenged me physically but also deepened my sense of spiritual connection. I’ve captured this journey in my latest book, Walking My Pace & Finding My Place: Becoming a Peregrino on the Camino de Santiago. I’d love for you to read all about it!

Three Books & Counting
Speaking of books, Walking My Pace… is now the third in a series of personal writings I’ve published. It joins Keeping My Feet Firmly Planted in the Flow: A Year of Journeying Through Grief & Gratitude, (a reflection on my experience of losing my late wife, Veronica, published in 2023), and Tales from the Stable: Christmas Stories from Those Who Were There, (a collection of stories I’ve shared over the years with various congregations on Christmas Eve, published in 2023).

A Shift in Relationships
Late last year, Susan and I came to the mutual understanding that our partnership had run its course. However, this shift didn’t mean the end of our connection—it actually allowed our deep friendship to flourish. We continued to share a home for a while and remain actively involved in Dance Camps and family gatherings together. I am truly grateful for her presence in my life, and for the new way we have learned to relate.

Soul-Fulfilling Dance Camps
Dance Camps continue to be a vital part of my life. This past year, I was blessed to participate in five Dances of Universal Peace Camps & Retreats, along with many local events. The dances feed my soul and light me up in ways I can’t fully put into words. Each event deepens my connection with others, with myself, and with Sacred Presence. I look forward to continuing this beautiful practice in the coming year.

A Grand Road Trip Adventure
This past summer, I sold my 19-foot travel trailer and traded in my truck for a smaller, pop-up tent trailer and a Hyundai Tucson plug-in hybrid. From mid-July to mid-September, I embarked on a 6,000-mile road trip that took me to three Dance Camps, four National Parks, and several State Parks. Along the way, I visited with both of my siblings, five of my daughters, and five of my grandkids. I also reconnected with many beloved friends. It was a truly amazing adventure, full of laughter, connection, and awe.

A New Chapter: Returning to Spokane
While on my road trip, a clearer sense of direction began to emerge in terms of “Where will my life take me next?” After thoughtful reflection and conversations with family and friends, I made the decision to move back to Spokane, Washington. Once that decision was made, things moved quickly! In early October, I helped Susan move the rest of her belongings from Taos to Boulder, and by late October, I had moved to Spokane with her help. I’m currently staying with friends just south of town while I search for a house to buy. It feels like the right decision for this next chapter in my life, as I have a wonderful group of friends, a thriving Dance Circle, and proximity to three of my daughters and several dear friends in the area.

Wishing you all peace, joy, and deep connection as we welcome the new year.
